Opprettet 30.06.1947 ved kongelig resolusjon i henhold til lov om tiltak til å fremme sysselsetting av 27. juni 1947, paragraf 15. Jfr. også kgl. res. av 27. mai 1949 om reglement for Arbeidsdirektoratet.
