About xternal organizational change
The term Groups is used as a collective term for organizations with more or less equivalent tasks.
Units included in groups are the substantial units that are part of the group.
Note that all groups are registered in the database, but that individual units included in groups under departments and under agencies are mapped in two different ways:
- Detailed: Each individual unit is shown in the overview under their respective groups/agencies. The change history for each individual unit is registered for all years.
- Aggregated: Here the groups are shown as aggregated figures under their respective groups/agencies. Detailed change history is not mapped. Groups registered in this way are particularly large and comprehensive groups such as tax offices, post offices, etc., as well as groups with difficult-to-access change history and poorer sources. In the extract on the next page, no aggregated groups will be shown.
| Selection | Example |
|---|---|
| Group under department | State colleges |
| Unit included in group under department | The individual colleges |
| Group under agency | County employment offices |
| Units included in agency | The individual county employment offices |
In addition, local departments/satellites are registered in a separate table. These are units that belong under a main unit, but are organized as a department located elsewhere. Change history is not mapped, but information about location and superior is registered. Examples of such units could be the Mo i Rana Department at the University College in Bodø. Another example is the Medical Birth Registry in Bergen which is under the Norwegian Institute of Public Health in Oslo.
