Sammendrag:

This master thesis explores the impacts created by the overall logistics activity and the structure of
the work force on the Norwegian Defense warehouses ability to meet customer demand.
The study is based on a quantitative method, with statistical analysis of the average delivery
capability of five regional supply units against a number of military systems. The ability to meet
customer demand is operationalized as the delivery capability. The main research question sought
answered is to what extent the delivery capability is affected by the volume of deliveries and the
composition of the work force.
The model employed shows how the delivery capability is influenced by factors as delivery volumes,
average age, the proportion of younger and older workers and the turnover rate. Results are
controlled for gender and mode of employment (military/civilian).
Descriptive statistics and linear regressions are employed to answer the main research question. The
main findings are that the model employed does not give a satisfactory explanation of the delivery
capability. However, it is shown that the average age of the work force provides a small but
statistically significant negative impact on the delivery capability.
