Tasks:
The section is tasked with developing research, innovation and education policy. Key areas include framework conditions and government facilitation. The section is responsible for departmental management of the Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomics (NIBIO) and the governance dialogue with the Norwegian Research Council, as well as the contact with "Selskapet for industrivekst SF" (SIVA SF, the Industrial Development Corporation of Norway - State Enterprise). Advancing the government's long-term plan for research and higher education and the development of bioeconomics in Norway is another key area. Furthermore, the department devises institutional policies, works to support the agricultural and food science research community, and is responsible for promoting international research collaboration in agriculture and food. The section also discharges the Ministry's sector responsibility of enrolment to agricultural education at all levels, and competence raising within the sector. The section maintains the dialogue with the Department of Education (KD) and the Department of Trade and Industry (NFD) and other departments on relevant issues.
