01.01.1994* Regular founding
Petrad was established by the Norwegian government to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and experience related to petroleum management and administration. Its aim is to be an efficient tool for Norway´s international cooperation in the petroleum sector, and to contribute to the internationalisation of its oil and gas industry. As part of the Norwegian contribution to development aid and internationalisation, Petrad´s programmes provide an in-depth look at the way Norway has managed its petroleum resources in a safe, sustainable and environment-friendly manner since the late 1960s. These programmes involve the whole Norwegian petroleum industry and related government agencies, and give access to their total knowledge and experience.
Petrad’s mission is to design and deliver capacity building activities for petroleum resource management, primarily for participants from developing countries.
