01.01.2011* Regular founding
The unit has responsibility for coordinating the EU / EEA in Petroleum and Energy. Contact with the European Commission, ESA, and so on directives that are relevant for Petroleum and Energy, on with the respective department.
The Coordination Unit is responsible for developing and following an international strategy for Petroleum and Energy in cooperation with technical departments. The strategy will communicate the interests of the ministry in the different countries, the tasks / processes the ministry want to get involved in, and prioritization of activities.

The EU/EØS unit is responsible for the coordination between the Ministry for Petroleum and Energy and EU/EEA. The contact with the EU commission, ESA and others, concerning directives that are relevant for the ministry is conducted in relation with the appropriate department.
