The Department for Research, Management and Administration is responsible for national budget work, agency and ownership management, subsidy administration, financial management, socio-economic analyses and evaluations. The Department coordinates the Ministry’s work on the National Transport Plan and is responsible for development of the model and analytical tools for the plan work. The Department is also responsible for the Ministry’s research and innovation policy, regional policy, recruitment and the policy for development of new marine industries.

The Department’s remit also includes work on safety and emergency preparedness and also internal administration, such as human resources policy and wages, archives and documentation and service and support to the Ministry’s departments.
