The section is responsible for museums, visual art, architectural issues, planning and building matters, the gift reinforcement programme and the decentralised scheme for distribution of gaming funds to cultural buildings. Additional responsibilities include import and export of cultural objects, cases involving cultural crime, oversight of KORO (Public Art Norway) and grants administration in relation to museums, miscellaneous pictorial arts projects, the Nobel Peace Center, Norway’s square-rigged ships and the Skibladner paddle steamer.
